New sailer for the Royal Navy of Oman

On the morning of January 15, 2014, the training ship for the Royal Navy of Oman was launched at the Damen Shipyards Group in Romania.

After launching, the sailboat under the towboats headed for Vlissingen, where the completion of the Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding shipyard, including the installation of three 50-meter masts, as well as exterior and interior finishing in the traditional Omani style of tea clippers, will be completed. And after the sea trials the sailing ship will be handed over to the customer in August 2014.

The still constructed anonymous three-masted barque has a body length of 87 meters, a width of 11 meters, a sailing arena of 2700 square meters. On board, 34 cadets can navigate marine practice under the guidance of 54 members of the vessel's permanent crew. And they designed a beautiful training vessel (Sail Training Vessel — STV) in the Dutch design bureau Dykstra Naval Architects, known for its masterpieces of shipbuilding — sailboats Stad Amsterdam and Cisne Branco.

The appearance on the sea of the newest barque, which will take the place of the current flagship RNOV Shabab Oman, Oman will once again emphasize its centuries-old marine traditions.
