Android operating system in the service of the US Navy
American warships will soon be equipped with a standard 4G connection.
American sailors and marines in the spring of 2013 will be able to use for the first time the LTE communication on board warships. According to Wired, the necessary equipment has already been installed on the universal landing ship of the Wasp class USS Kearsarge and the landing transport-dock San Antonio which in March this year will go on combat duty in the Persian Gulf.
According to the resource until February 20, 2013, the 4G system will be tested in the Atlantic Ocean. Before sending to the Persian Gulf, the crew and ships of the Marines will receive LG smartphones running the Android operating system. LTE communication will be used not only for traditional calls and messaging, but also for military communications — for example, between helicopter crews, which will allow them to more effectively counter sea pirates.
