Round-the-world sailing regatta Volvo Ocean Race 2009 to the end
Recently on June 27, 2009 in St. Petersburg, while the morning sunrise followed a short white night, passions began to boil in the Gulf of Finland waters. In a bitter struggle, the Swedish team Telefónica Black was able to wrest victory from the rivals and the first to cross the finish line of the tenth, the last stage of the round-the-world regatta Volvo Ocean Race,leaving behind 37,000 nautical miles.
The same evening, on the beach of the Hare Island, a solemn ceremony of rewarding the participants of the round-the-world regatta Volvo Ocean Race 2009, which started on October 11, 2008, took place. Before the Peter and Paul Fortress and on the Dvortsovaya Embankment, which was blocked for traffic, a huge number of spectators gathered, wishing to congratulate the participants of the competitions and join the holiday: fans of the teams and guests greeted the winners with cheers and applause.
