The Federated States of Micronesia National Police is a division of the Department of Justice.
It is the law enforcement arm of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) National Government, with specific mandates duty to enforce fisheries laws, Controlled Substance Act, Weapons Control Act, Search and Rescue, protection of identified National Government officials and visiting foreign diplomats, and laws that are national in nature or crimes against the National Government.
Other functions are medical evacuation, provision of assistance in disaster relief operations, emergency communications and rendition of technical support and training to State law enforcement agencies upon request.
The National Police is managed and administered from its headquarters at the Capital, Palikir. The Maritime Wing, an integral unit of the National Police is situated at the dock in Dekehtik, Pohnpei. Since its inception, the men and women at the FSM National Police had created an atmosphere of ethical and caring environment. The sworn officers as well as the civilians manning the division take special pride in helping to make all the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) safe to live, to do business, work and visit.
The Federated States of Micronesia National Police operates the three Pacific-class patrol boat FSS Palikir (01), FSS Micronesia (02) and FSS Independence (03).
