IRIS Dena (75) is a frigate within the Moudge-class, positioned in the Southern Fleet of the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, named after Mount Dena.

The vessel is referred to as both a Destroyer and Frigate by English media, while in Persian, it is recognized as The Dena, weighing approximately 1,300 to 1,500 tons, with dimensions of 94 meters in length and 11 meters in width. Similar to other Moudge-class frigates from Iran, Dena features a helipad for hosting helicopters.

Dena is notable as the first Iranian destroyer equipped with four domestically manufactured engines, known as «Bonyan 4,» each boasting 5,000 horsepower. In total, Dena harnesses 20,000 horsepower. Additionally, a Bow Truster system is installed at the front to enhance maneuverability.

In a statement by Iranian Navy Commander Hossein Khanzadi, Dena's missile-carrying capacity surpasses that of its predecessors in the same frigate class. For the inaugural time in the Iranian navy industry, Dena frigate is outfitted with a vertical launching system (VLS), according to Khanzadi.

The fire control system of Dena exhibits the capability to intercept 40 targets and engage with five targets simultaneously.

Dena is armed with both surface-to-air and anti-ship missiles, featuring 4 Qader anti-ship missiles, a 76 mm Fajr-27 naval gun, a 40 mm Fath-40 AA cannon, two 20 mm Oerlikon guns, two 12.7mm heavy machine guns, and two triple torpedo launchers (533 mm).

An «Asr» radar is installed on this frigate, covering a 360-degree range of 300 km around Dena.

Notably, Dena and Makran, as part of the 86th naval fleet, undertook a historic 360-Degree mission around the planet in 2022-2023, marking a significant achievement for the Iranian Navy.
