The FFX Batch-IV (Ulsan Batch-IV) is the next frigates project promoted by the Korean Navy and the Defense Agency following the Chungnam-class (FFX Batch-III project).

The Korean Navy is powering a total of 26 escorts (FFGs) with the new ships FFX project. Once the FFX project is completed, it is expected that both aging medium and large ships of the sea fleet will be replaced, such as Pohang-class corvettes, Ulsan-class frigates, and Gwanggaeto Great-class destroyers.

The FFX Batch-IV is the same in size, shape, mounting equipment and other specifications, and most of the FFX Batch-III is the same, and it is known that four additional domestic armed arms are integrated and the integrated engine control system is localized.
