On August 14, 1968, the tug Langeoog and the Spiekeroog were put into service together for the 1st Supply Squadron. They were stationed at the naval base in Kiel. The Langeoog was decommissioned in Wilhelmshaven on February 14, 1977 and subsequently laid up there.

After the Langeoog was converted at the Mützelfeldt shipyard in Cuxhaven, it was commissioned as a class 754 mine-throwing and light boat on June 6, 1978 with a civilian crew for the naval weapons school as a replacement for the Eider.

The Langeoog was scrapped in the Netherlands in 2017.
