New cruise ship Costa Diadema

New cruise ship Costa Diadema

October 30, 2014 at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera near Venice, the new liner Costa Diadema will take on board the first passengers to make a short but very meaningful sea voyage between Venice and Trieste, which will last until November 1.

This flight will lead a new liner to the port of Genoa, where it will be baptized in all sea traditions on November 7, and the next day after the official transfer of the new flagship of the cruise fleet Costa Diadema to its owners Costa Cruises, the daughter company of the corporation Carnival, to go on the first sea cruise from Savona, with calls to Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Naples and La Spezia.

The newest ship is the fifteenth cruise liner of the Dream class and the penultimate passenger ship of the series. The new liner will replace its predecessor Costa Fascinosa. Costa Diadem traditionally was solemnly laid down on November 15, 2013 at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera.

The creation of a new liner Costa Cruises invested 550 million euros. The construction of the project involved 1,000 employees and 2,500 contractors, as well as 400 Italian companies and companies. Now this cruise liner will become the largest passenger ship operating under the Italian flag. The dimensions of the liner are really impressive — the length is 306 m, the width is 37.2 m, the displacement is 132,500 tons. Passenger capacity of the vessel is 4,947 people, accommodated in 1,854 cabins; 1,253 crew and staff. Due to such shapes and sizes, the liner will become the most spacious and modern vessel in terms of services, decor and general design in the Costa Cruises fleet. The creators say that when creating a new liner a great emphasis is placed on entertainment and recreation. So to the new functionality you can include two-level rooms with a view to the sea, including balconies. Something in the new vessel is taken from already existing novelties on the newly constructed liners. So the design uses an open Prom for closer «communication with the sea», both on the liners Breakaway and Getaway. On board, guests will be offered a number of new experiences and services, including new restaurants and cafes in Italian, Bavarian and Japanese styles. For entertainment, the passengers will be provided with a rock club, a multipurpose hall with interactive games, the Portobello trade area with many shops, which is located in the center of the ship and occupying an area of 1100 sq.m. The new vessel designers returned a three-level system of SPA rest, where guests can enjoy both a festive atmosphere and a quality relaxation.

From 1,854 cabins, the new liner will provide its guests with 852 cabins with a balcony, 61 luxury rooms, 254 external cabins with a sea view and 687 internal cabins.

In the winter period 2014-2015, the Costa Diadema liner will carry out seven-day routes from Savona with a visit to French Marseille, Spanish Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca, as well as Italian Civitavecchia and Spice.
