The company told Naval News that they developed the vessel in close cooperation with the Danish SH Defence. The NTV 130 design concept was first presented in the form of a scale model at the DALO Industry Days exhibition.

Today, the German fleet has six Type 404 support vessels commissioned between January 1993 and November 1994.

These vessels provide support for submarines, fast boats and mine countermeasures groups. However, Germany's existing ships are already outdated.

The replacement of the old ships will be selected under the MUSE (Mittlere Unterstützungseinheit schwimmende Einheiten) programme. However, there is no information yet on the specific requirements for the project, only that NVL Group has been developing the NTV 130 concept for the past year and a half as a potential proposal for the MUSE programme.

The NTV 130 will be 142 metres long and have a displacement of 14,000 tonnes. This is significantly larger than the old Type 404 ships. The company emphasises the modularity and flexibility of the new vessel, which will allow it to be a multifunctional platform.

In addition, the NTV 130 is designed to use unmanned systems (surface, underwater and aerial). The hangar is also designed to accommodate one NH90 multipurpose helicopter.

It is worth noting that, unlike the Type 404 ships, which are mainly built to commercial standards, the NTV 130 will be built to military standards, including NATO STANAG standards for protection against nuclear, biological, chemical weapons and damage control.
